Published in the peer-reviewed Aquaculture Research*, a study conducted in Thailand investigated the effects of Panaferd®-AX on growth performance, survival, body pigmentation, immune responses, and disease resistance during two challenge tests of juvenile Pacific white shrimp (Litopenaeus vannamei). Four diets with Panaferd®-AX at 0, 250, 500, and 1250 mg/kg diet respectively, were distributed to shrimp (4 g initial weight) for 30 days. The results showed that shrimp growth, feed utilization, and survival were not impacted (p > 0.05) by the inclusion of Panaferd®-AX during that period. Pigmentation, on the other hand, was significantly improved by diets including Panaferd®-AX (p < 0.05) at all levels. Moreover, on additional health benefits, the supplementation of Panaferd®-AX enhanced disease resistance against Vibrio parahaemolyticus and mortality was delayed after exposure to the deadly white spot syndrome virus (WSSV).

In conclusion, Panaferd®-AX greatly enhances shrimp color and resilience, giving extra value to the product and sustaining shrimp health in challenging farming conditions.
